Solar Storm: A Story Telling Mini-Expansion (for Stellaris 3.10.X)

Please direct bug reports, balance and feature suggestions to the appropriate discussion.

While the likes of Starcraft fulfills its place in the gaming market as a fast paced RTS, Civilisation VI as a turn based game steeped in strategy, Stellaris has filled a niche as space D&D (more or less). Solar Storm is a combined story and gameplay mod designed to complement this concept of Stellaris as a game. It currently features:

  • 28 ascension perks providing unique and powerful bonuses available only to certain ethics.
  • 6+ general ascension perks
  • 1 mid-game, player-triggered crisis
  • various extra features!

This mod features 30+ new ascension perks designed to be interesting and powerfu;. Each ethic gets 3 flavourful and unique ascension perks only that ethic can pick. They are:

Egalitarian
  • Indomitable Ideology: your enemies in war sustain massively increased war exhaustion.
  • Common Goals: you gain production bonuses for maintaining positive relations with other egalitarian empires.
  • Lands of Freedom: increases population growth from immigration and increases it further for every migration pact you have.

Authoritarian
  • Uniformity: production bonuses from high stability are massively increased.
  • Imposition: gain powerful edicts and also hamper the industrial production of your enemies with your spy networks.
  • Imperium: gain military and production bonuses for each vassal you have.

Xenophobe
  • Citizen Supremacy: gain a bonus to population growth and resources from jobs.
  • The Barrier: gain incredibly powerful defensive structure technologies and bonuses.
  • Hatred: you received increased resource income and military production for nearby rivals.

Xenophile
  • Political Game: your envoys provide extra unity and diplomatic weight for being assigned to diplomatic missions.
  • Strength in Allies: all members of your federation gains military and research bonuses scaling based on the number of empires in the federation.
  • Celebration of Diversity: gain extra unity and trade value on planets with diverse alien species living upon them.

Militarist
  • Militarised Economy: soldier jobs now produce a basic level of resources and research.
  • Heroism: some of your military leaders gain powerful, heroic traits.
  • Militarised Civilian Fleet: you periodically receive free military vessels from converted civilian vessels.

Pacifist
  • Peace in Body: during peacetime, your leaders passively gain large amounts of experience.
  • Pacifist Diplomacy: empires claiming your territory and waging war on you receive diplomatic, economic and military penalties.
  • Enlightenment: while not at war, your population is more productive and consumes less resources.

Materialist
  • Explorers of the Frontier: your researchers become very happy and you gain research bonuses scaling from your stockpile of minor artifacts.
  • Masters of the Material: gain early access to powerful technologies and bonuses to robotic pops and megastructures.
  • Partners in Progress: gain extra trade value and research for your research pacts, as well as additional diplomatic weight from technology.

Spiritualist
  • Establishment: spiritualist pops in your empire produce extra trade value and unity.
  • Conveyors of Tradition: your ruler pops become more potent.
  • Masters of the Immaterial: Nearby non-ally empires with less unity output than you receive military penalties and give you extra influence.

Hive Minds
  • Ascension of the Flesh: your hive worlds grow in size over time and you gain extra pop assembly for excess food production.
  • Ascension of Will: Enslaved and consumed pops produce large amounts of research, planets you bombard produce infested armies.

Machine Consciousnesses
  • Network Nodes: developed worlds and spy networks produce extra energy and research.
  • Infinite Architecture: Increases the power of planetary designations and allows you increase pop assembly at the cost of energy.

Abyssal Secrets

The universe is linear; it goes forever forward towards nothingness. One-by-one every last molecule will evaporate and time will shreds itself to meaninglessness. This is the fate of everything at the end of universe. But the universe recognises it’s own flaws and seeks to correct the design, but saving everything requires great sacrifice.

Do you submit to the calamitous plan or stand for the doomed denizens of the galaxy?

If you wish to activate the Abyssal Secrets crisis, activate the "Abyssal Secrets" ascension perk and build a quantanium research lab as a non-gestalt empire. Then simply wait. Alternatively, turn on the ‘Gestalt override’ in the mod menu and ‘Randomly Roll Crisis Tech’ so that gestalt empires can activate the crisis and the required technology can be naturally rolled and researched.
