Technology Rubberbanding
Hey everyone! I’m glad to be finally releasing Technology Rubberbanding. This mod aims to reduce the oppressive impact of tech rushing by adding in rubberbanding.
Rubberbanding is simply adding bonuses to people behind in technology and negatives to people ahead. The mod achieves its goal by adding a Technology cost modifier to each country. The modifiers are all based on the "galaxy average" and you can see the exact numbers below.
You can use this mod with any other mod, and as a plus this mod shouldn’t (hopefully) break in any future update
I understand that everyone wants to play differently, so upon the start of the game you (or the host in MP) will be given the following options:
- Full Tech Rubberbanding
- Only tech boosts for lagging nations
- Only tech negatives for ahead nations
In addition to that you can also choose how large those bonuses and negatives are, and any limits you want to set.
Wait there is more! You can also choose when the modifiers will start.
- 40 years in
- 20 years in
- 10 years in
- Upon the formation of the galactic community (with 40 year fallback)
- Now
Don’t worry the mod starts with reasonable presets and all you need to do is click confirm.
This table shows the modifiers for the x1 modifiers. For any other multiplier just multiply the modifier in the table below by it.
For example, if you have x3 Behind multiplier and a x0.5 Ahead multiplier your new numbers will look like:
Although I like the current state of the mod, there are many more features I might eventually add, Like:
- Research bonuses from each Individual empire in addition to (or replacing) the current galaxy wide passive bonus
- Friendly empires giving more tech bonus, Hostile empires need infiltration instead
- Research bonuses from Intel levels/Espionage levels
- Interaction (and finding balance) with Enigmatic engineering
- Ability to see multipliers’ effects in UI
