HW: Mod – Galaxy Cores
Mod Version: 1.2
This mod adds a core of stars to the cores of elliptical and spiral galaxies, and adds a sparse few stars to the void of ring galaxies. A passage may, or may not, be found to the other side of a ring galaxy. All other galaxy settings are kept as vanilla.
This mod also reduces the brightness of the galaxy core.
ButtJunkie has made some lovely galaxy textures. Though they load before this mod and work just fine, the below patches will allow you use these textures with a further dimming of the galaxy core.

- Patch – Galaxy Cores – Purple Galaxy Texture
The game’s algorithm for removing the fog of war for discovered systems gets a bit wobbly in the core. If this is an issue for you then you can try EG* – Galaxy Colours Restored which will remove all the fog. System names remain hidden so you can still see where you haven’t yet been.
- Overwrites the map/galaxy/* files.
- Replaces the galaxy background image.
- Is compatible with Real Space.
