Description:

This is an optional and standalone Space Combat Expanded module that aims to add a bit of Mass Effect flavour to the game, specifically focusing on the fleet doctrine of playable empires.
It currently renames vanilla ship classes to their ME equivalents and attempts to simulate the Treaty of Farixen by putting restrictions on Dreadnought deployment.
The mod is at this time focused on fluff rather than mechanics, but in time its scope may expand.

Mechanically, both franchises’ fleet doctrines are nearly identical, the only notable difference being their respective naming conventions. As such, the stats and roles of the reflavoured ships remain mostly unchanged.

  • The following ships (including all references in events, tooltips and descriptions) have been renamed:
Destroyer -> Frigate, Battleship -> Dreadnought, Titan -> Superdreadnought, Scout Wing -> Interceptor
  • Treaty of Farixen! The number of dreadnoughts that an empire can build is now restricted by a dynamic cap determined by the maximum Naval Capacity. One Dreadnought can be built per every 20 Naval Capacity.
Note that this just a name I use to refer to the build cap mechanic. You are not actually asked to sign a treaty. Nor, for that matter, can you refuse.

  • This module modifies the 00_ship_sizes.txt file and as such is incompatible with any mods that do that same.
  • SCX Carrier Class is compatible with the ME fleet doctrine and synergises very well with the Treaty of Farixen! Carriers are not restricted by it so they can be used as an alternative to Dreadnoughts in some situations.
  • SCX Dreadnought Class is generally NOT recommended. The Dreadnought class it adds does not fit within the ME fleet doctrine as the Dreadnought spot is already taken. However, if you choose to install it regardless, SCXMEC is prepared for that and will rename it to "Heavy Dreadnought" to avoid confusion.

This mod is standalone! It does not require SCX Core at this time. It does nevertheless belong to the SCX family:
