Nullcore Nomad Balance

A balance pass for the official Nomads DLC. This is the tuning half of my nomad work: the companion mod, Nullcore Nomad Fixes, handles pure bug fixes, while this one handles the numbers and the quality-of-life balance. Run either on its own, or both together.

What it changes

Forever Cruise, eased further
The recent patch slowed the cruise situation, but high difficulties can still wall you in the midgame. I add extra relief that scales with difficulty, so a Grand Admiral cruise advances closer to a normal pace instead of snowballing out of control.

No more reserve death-spirals
When your Operational Reserves run low, the penalties used to stack hard enough to be unrecoverable. I softened the worst of them and added a slightly bigger opening cushion, so a rough patch is a setback, not a doom loop.

Harvesting that is worth it
Better strategic-resource yields, faster harvests, and lighter station and opinion penalties.

Contracts pay more than trade
Cruise and harvest contracts now also pay Unity and Society research, so nomads are not starved of both while chasing trade value.

A real research and unity pathway
I buffed the mixed research-and-unity arkship deck so it is a viable mid-option instead of a trap.

Cheaper Arc Furnace
Lower energy upkeep across all build stages.

Khan, reined in
The Heirs of the Khan force-multiplier was absurd: roughly four times the fleet at a quarter of the cost, plus a recurring free hunting fleet. I toned both down. Still strong, no longer silly. Your inherited hordes are untouched.

Pirate play that actually pays (by request)
Void Reaver pirate hideouts and reaver strongholds skimmed a measly 1.5 percent and 3 percent of a colony’s output, not worth the alloys and the destructible waystation. Raised to 5 percent and 10 percent so raiding is a real income path.

A little good news
An occasional positive event when the cruise is genuinely going well, so Forever Cruise is not nothing but bad news.

Compatibility

Pairs cleanly with Nullcore Nomad Fixes, no overlap. Safe to add or remove mid-save. It only tunes vanilla values and events, so it will not clash with your civics, traits, or other content. Load order does not matter.
