Forgotten Empires 4.3
This is an unofficial updated version of [ON HOLD] Forgotten Empires 4.2 by Inny.
The goal of this release is simple: to let players enjoy Forgotten Empires on the current version of Stellaris without waiting for the original mod to be updated.
Huge thanks to Inny for creating the original mod and preserving so much excellent narrative content for Stellaris. This version exists only because of that work.
Forgotten Empires is a narrative story pack for Stellaris focused on exploration, archaeology, precursor civilizations, lost worlds and the remnants of empires that vanished long before your own reached the stars.
The mod adds new archaeological sites, anomalies, random events, precursor chains and unique planets. Some stories are small discoveries found during exploration; others grow into longer chains about extinct cultures, ancient disasters, strange technology, forgotten art, impossible cities and civilizations whose legacy may still shape the galaxy.
Forgotten Empires does not try to replace the core Stellaris experience. It adds more things to discover, investigate and remember: ruins with their own history, worlds with unusual properties, ancient mysteries, narrative rewards and discoveries that make the galaxy feel older, stranger and more alive.
• new archaeological sites scattered across the galaxy;
• additional anomalies and exploration events;
• several precursor story chains;
• unique worlds with special properties and possible empire-wide benefits;
• relics, rewards and narrative consequences tied to ancient discoveries;
• stories about extinct civilizations, lost cities, failed hives, strange machines and forgotten wars;
• lore-friendly content integrated from several older story and archaeology projects;
• more reasons to explore the galaxy beyond expansion, warfare and resource gathering.
Forgotten Empires includes a large set of dig sites with their own themes, specimens, discoveries and complications.
You may investigate underground civilizations, vanished cities, lost art, ancient music, failed collective minds, ruined war worlds, strange towers, impossible performances, space whale tombs and planets where something ancient still seems to sing beneath the surface.
These stories are meant to give exploration a slower, more mysterious tone. Not every ruin is just a reward chest, and not every discovery has a clean answer.
The mod also adds several precursor chains, including civilizations such as the Alshigans, the Astanine, the Coprean Constitution, the Shaded Empire, the Sless Alliance and the Z’nkar.
These chains focus on the culture, technology, collapse and legacy of empires that came before yours. They add more variety to the early and mid-game discovery phase and give your scientists more long-form mysteries to uncover across the galaxy.
Forgotten Empires also includes unique worlds inspired by Strange Worlds.
These planets are not just visual curiosities. Some of them can support special buildings or passive bonuses for your empire, as long as you can keep control of them. They add valuable exploration targets and make certain systems feel worth protecting for more than minerals, trade or strategic position.
• updated the mod for the current Stellaris version;
• checked and adjusted files affected by game updates;
• preserved the original narrative content and structure where possible;
• kept the original mod’s identity intact;
• added full localization support for all Stellaris languages;
• prepared the mod so players can use it now instead of waiting for a future update.
The mod is fully localized into all 10 languages supported by Stellaris:
• English;
• Français;
• Deutsch;
• Español;
• Polski;
• Português do Brasil;
• Русский;
• 简体中文;
• 日本語;
• 한국어.
All localizations were prepared using the same workflow and quality standards I use for my Russian localization projects: structure checks, terminology review, placeholder preservation, narrative polishing and additional QA passes.
I am not a native speaker of every supported language, so feedback from native speakers is very welcome. I spent a lot of time on the multilingual release and hope the result will make the mod more accessible to players around the world.
The original mod recommends Ancient Relics, Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, Nemesis and First Contact, but they are not required. These DLCs may provide additional rewards or better support for some content.
A new game is recommended, because archaeological sites, anomalies, precursor chains and unique worlds are usually generated during galaxy creation.
The mod should generally work alongside other event and story mods, but conflicts may still happen with mods that change the same archaeological sites, anomalies, events, precursor content, relics, rewards, planets or scripted systems.
This is an unofficial update, not the original upload. I did not create the original Forgotten Empires content.
Credit for the original mod belongs to Inny and the authors whose content was included or adapted in the original project. If the original author updates the mod or requests changes to this version, I will respect that.
If you find bugs, broken events, missing text, placeholder issues, localization problems or strange behavior in the updated version, please report them in the comments.
Bug reports in the comments are very welcome. I will try to fix any missed issues as quickly as possible.
Native speaker corrections for any localization are also very welcome.
If you enjoy this update and want to support future maintenance, please consider rating the mod positively and adding it to your favorites. Thank you!
