Update 5/16: Overall much better functionality and more accurate map star types + brown dwarves!

Ever wondered what interstellar expansion will be like in real life?

Real Milky Way: 10 Parsec Solar Neighborhood generates a galaxy from a real catalogue of the 339 systems within 10 parsecs of Sol using Gaia data curated by Reylé et al. https://arxiv.org/pdf/2104.14972 https://gruze.org/10pc/resources/?v=2.

To play, select "Solar Neighborhood" from the Galaxy Size dropdown.

Hyperlanes are generated using the original coordinates, resulting in several nearby stars that don’t connect. The network is currently dense.

There are no known black holes or neutron stars in this region. Wormholes and planets are randomly generated. AI empires start in systems with known planets. Stars get renamed when they become homeworlds.

I recommend playing as the UN so the game makes Earth.
