Gene Assimilation
When you assimilate an alien species, you don’t just delete them — you *harvest* them.
Their billions of years of evolutionary refinement become yours.
The more unique species you absorb, the more powerful your primary species becomes, until you represent something no single civilization could ever have achieved alone.
Or something like that.
I wasn’t impressed with the various "assimilation" mods on the workshop.
I’d prefer to absorb some of the genetic material as we assimilate these other species.
You also can find Strong/resiliant/intelligent traits on species and you’ll acquire something similar based on your species – organic or mechanical, if you don’t already have that trait.
I’d love to make this mod just consume all positive traits of species you find, but that’s.. idk, impossible? Plus I think they aren’t compatible. Traits are coded to only be assigned to specific species, like intelligent for biological and lithoid, not robot or machine. To compensate for that loss, I added a stacking modifier trait:
You will get a stacking modifier after consuming multiple species, small at first but capping out at 30 unique species assimilated.

Select "gene assimilation" on a species you want to assimilate to use this. Personally I set "default rights" to Gene Assimilation and it’s all taken care of automatically.
This doesn’t override anything, feel free to add or delete it at any time without effecting your game.
You probably can play normally and be OK, but this submod will assist the situation event by adding the assimilated species counter to your situation monthly progress:
That submod DOES override a vanilla file and will need to be updated as paradox makes changes to it.
