Federations no more – New Horizons
This is a small mod that prevents federations from forming. As the Federation this decreases friction from minor nations forming federations that only make them a free morsel for adjacent empires and allows for more easier expansion. It also makes the Federation a bigger threat if you are playing another empire as the Federation should be bigger. By disabling federations, the mod also allows for more diplomacy in general, as defensive pacts, research and trade agreements, guarantees, along with other interactions remain available to everyone, without being restricted by federation limitations.
This mod works by adjusting the AI’s base acceptance value for federation invitations from -50 to -9999, preventing the AI from ever forming federations. Do note that this does not prevent scripted federations from forming, for example the Federation.
Since this mod is a patch for ST: New Horizons it will most likely cause problems in both vanilla and other major mods, in other words: It is only compatible with ST: New Horizons.
That being said, this mod should work with most other mods, as long as they don’t modify the file "00_actions.txt" located in Stellaris/common/diplomatic_actions. If another mod does modify this file, it likely won’t be compatible with Legacy of the Old Republic anyway.
If you want to add the same modification to another mod or vanilla, it’s simple to do. Just open the file in Notepad++ (or another text editor), search for "action_invite_to_federation" to locate the relevant entry, and then change the "AI_acceptance_base_value" to a high number. Congratulations, you’ve just modded the game!
