The story is a tribute to Dark Souls and the reference to Artorias who abandons his royal guard duty to go and stop the expansion of the abyss by defeating Manus and the dualism between humanity or entity part of the abyss which if accumulated leads to a more powerful power for its owner.
In the mod Artorias will be the empire led by the player while Manus will be the black hole with his hand (reference to Dark Souls I DLC) while Humanity will be the stellar obsidian or the new resource that will be needed to have power to defeat the entity.
