Description:

This mod adds the origin Slipgate Architects and one new technology associated with it.

Origin:

Slipgate Architects:

"The most important advancement in space travel of this species was the discovery of slipways. Using a Network of Slipgates near instantaneous travel over astronomical distances can be achieved. This advancement however hindered their research of hyperlane travel, reducing its potential use for interstellar travel."

By choosing this origin you start the game with an active Gateway in your homesystem and both the technology for Gateway Activation and Construction unlocked. These technologies further let you build Slipgates, basically cheaper Gateways, if you selected the origin. Just like Gateways these have two build stages:

Slipgate Construction Site:
250 alloys
25 influence
360 days build time

which can be upgraded to their final stage:

Slipgate:
250 alloys
1000 energy
360 days build time

For flavour and balancing the origin comes with a empire modifier as drawback:
+1000% Hyper Jump Charge Time

As such a single Hyperlane Jump using Tier 1 Hyperdrives takes about 200 days. Because this would severly limit exploration and military the mod also adds a new technology: Slipdrives.

Technology:

Slipdrives

Basically knock-off jumpdrives with reduced range and no reduction in Hyper Jump Charge Time. However you should encounter this technology much sooner, since it´s a tier two rare technology (particles).
These drives are not considered a dangerous technology, so they shouldn´t increase the likelihood of The Unbidden spawning as the crisis

Closing Notes and Future Prospects:

I originally wanted the mod to reduce Hyperlane travel speed to the extent your ships would spend a year or so travelling on the hyperlane itself. This would have meant that, for one travel time would notably scale with the length of the hyperlane, and for the other that your ships wouldn´t practically be sitting ducks outside of the Gateway Network. Unfortunatly the game couldn´t handle this approach, as ships simply wouldn´t reappear on the other end of the hyperlane.

-might increase the range of the jumpdrives and other tweaks
-might add another tier of slipdrive
