Description:

Tired of massive vassal blobs forming in every single one of your games? Think it’s weird that AIs are so eager to give up their sovereignty when their fleets are 2% smaller than their neighbor’s? Did you read the dev diary about diplomacy changes and are impatient and want this specific change now? Then this mod is for you!

No longer will vassals subject themselves to the whims of empires they do not yet trust. Now, vassals require a minimum amount of trust before they will accept diplomatic vassalization or ask to be subjugated. This means that you’ll need to have diplomatic relations with them for at least a little bit before they’ll be willing to offer themselves up completely to your sick desires.

This idea comes from a dev diary about Stellaris version 3.8, which when released will make this mod redundant. I do not know what value Paradox will use for minimum trust required, but 30 seems about right to me. Let me know if you think this is too low/high. If I have time I might even try to make it a configurable setting.

Features
  • No longer able to propose subjugation if the target has a trust value of less than 30.
  • The AI will no longer ask to be subjugated to empires that they do not have at least 30 trust with.
  • Players will still be able to ask to be subjugated at will.

Compatibility

This will conflict with any mod that changes the Propose Subjugation/Ask to Become Vassal diplomatic actions. It will also most likely not be compatible with Stellaris 3.8, but at that point you really should not be using this mod anyway.
