Description:
Living Systems updated for 4.3.X!

Living Systems adds life to your interstellar empire by populating it with hundreds of autonomous civilian vessels. Your systems will no longer feel empty and devoid of life as civilian vessels buzz around from planet to planet on their daily business.

Features
  • Adds civilian starships to Stellaris. Ships will automatically move around within your borders. Spawned at random from across the vanilla graphical cultures. Also includes billboard advertisements and interstellar fleets that will move around within your empire. New with 4.3, spawn an orbital civilian network of private space stations within your borders via the Orbital Network policy!
  • Spawning based on your planet’s capital building tier, your capital will see more fleets zooming around while your colonies will have fewer ships!
  • Highly customizable settings (through in-game policies) to ensure you can play with minimal performance impact. Read the policy tooltips!
  • It will take several years to fully populate your systems after enabling the policies.

Policies
  • Civilian Density [Normal (default), Low, Off]: Controls the number of civilian ships spawned in player empires. Lower this to improve performance.
  • Orbital Network [Disabled (default), Enabled]: Controls the spawning of various space stations in orbit around the star of a system. Based off coding from Dyson Swarm 3.4.*, it adds in a visual layer of space stations that spawn in system.
  • Intra-System Billboards [Enabled (default), Disabled]: Controls the spawning of billboard advertisement ships in-game.
  • Interstellar Ships [Enabled (default), Disabled]: Controls the spawning of Interstellar Civilian Fleets that move between systems.
  • AI – Orbital Network [Off (default), Contact only, All]: Controls spawning of space stations in AI empires. Contact only means stations will only spawn in Empires you have contact with. All means all AI Empires will spawn stations (likely large performance hit).
  • AI – Living Systems [Off (default), Contact only, All]: Controls the spawning of civilians in AI empires. Contact only means civilians will only spawn in Empires you have contact with. All means civilian fleets will spawn in all AI Empires (pretty big performance hit late game).

Patches

Patch Mod for Mass Effect: A New Destiny
Fork of Living Systems for 4.X. that uses the Player Empire’s shipset.

Compatibility / Disclaimers

NOT achievement compatible; modifies checksum.
NOT Compatible with anything that changes system scale. Mods that slow sublight speed are compatible but you may have many civilian fleets active at once.
Able to be added and disabled midgame. Follow directions below for removal.

Should be compatible with most other mods. I personally use Downscaled Ships, Fleet Formation Mod – No Trails Downscaled, ! Immersive Beautiful Stellaris ! (plus many others) and would recommend it for the scope and scale of the universe, as well as to cut down on the visual UI clutter. As I rebuild my modlist after the 4.3 update, I’ll keep an eye on compatibility. Please also report any problems to me.

Turning off both civilian density AND orbital network via policies will disable the mod, allowing you to safely remove it after about a year of in-game time. It is safe to add mid-game.

This is my first mod, so I am new at modding and wanted to take up learning on one of my favorites that make Stellaris feel lived in! I did use ChatGPT at times to help me learn and validate this mod.

Any bugs, feedback, or suggestions are appreciated!
