Description:

A mod inspired by the film "Iron Lung" by Markiplier, based on the game of the same name by David Szymanski, which adds rare blood ocean type planets to Stellaris. The planet type is unique and does not replace any other planet class.

For version 4.2.4 "Corvus".

Can be used alongside Planetary Diversity. Not achievement compatible.

Version 1.36 – 17/02/2026
– Blood Oceans are now habitable!
– They appear slightly rarer than regular habitable planet classes, with 0.35 spawn odds as opposed to 0.4.
– Blood Oceans are now affected by the Habitable Worlds slider bar in the Galaxy Settings.
– They can also appear with a pre-FTL society.
– Blood Oceans are intended to be research-oriented worlds with limited habitability. Therefore, they do not provide much in the way of basic resources but they will provide added research.
– After encountering your first Blood Ocean, you will unlock two technologies that each grant +20% habitability to Blood Ocean worlds.
– Blood Oceans may have some agriculture and generator districts, but they will never have mining districts. There’s a reason they survived the rapture, after all.
– Other mods may still be able to change this.
– The number of available districts is intended to be limited.
– Living Metal and research orbital deposits have been replaced with unique planetary features for Blood Oceans which give these resources instead.
– These planetary features provide science output for all three types as well as Living Metal, agriculture, and generator districts.
– Some planetary features are much rarer than others.
– Added an event popup when you first survey a Blood Ocean planet, followed by toolbar popups for every Blood ocean that follows.
– Added localisations for all languages.

– I will keep improving the bonuses that Blood Oceans provide and I welcome any feedback, particularly involving balance, localisation, and of course bugs. At some point I would like to add a unique major bonus that these worlds provide, possibly involving an origin, that would make them something that the player would specifically aim towards.
