Faster Notifications
This mod effectively disables the animation when new notification floats across the screen.
This makes UI feel faster which is of value for many people.
This mod is very useful if you are playing with higher ticks_per_turn.
ticks_per_turn is a console command that forces game to perform CPU calculations much faster than in vanilla, which effectively makes the game run 5-10 times faster.
Default ticks_per turn is 1, but you can set it to higher with console command "ticks_per_turn 10" or any other number (no quotes). Enter this command only when you are on pause, then close console and press spacebar!
While higher ticks_per_turn can make your game run 5+ times faster, which is super-important for late game or very large galaxies, it also makes UI unresponsive during the game.
This means you have to pause the game in order to do anything.
Framerate can drop as low as 1 FPS. Stellaris is a grand strategy game so it’s not as bad as it sounds (as long as you just look at the map, not at space battles, of course 🙂 )
However it is very important to have elaborate information display here, as you cannot use any submenus unless you’re paused.
I found that UI Overhaul Dynamic – Extended Topbar helps a lot here.
This mod will also fix the issue with notifications, as they feel very lagged when playing on high ticks_per_turn.
NOTIFICATION_MESSAGE_SPEED is changed to a much higher value. That’s all.
