More Alternate Ship Sections
Expanding upon the vanilla ship sections, this mod allows you to have even more creativity with the ship designer and your weapon choice. As a general rule when I chose the weapon slots:
1M = 2S
1M = 1G
1L = 2M = 2G
1XL = 2L
1T = 2XL
1T = 1W
Ship Sections:
There are new ship sections for each ship class, from the corvette to even a weaponized colossus!
– Corvettes: 3PD / 1M+1S
– Frigates: 1L / 1XL
– Destroyer Bows: 3PD / 3S / 1G+1S / 1H
– Destroyer Sterns: 1G
– Cruiser Bows: 1H /1M+2S / 2G
– Cruiser Cores: 2M+2S / 3G / 1L+1G
– Cruiser Sterns: 1G
– Battleship Bows: 2H / 1G+2PD+1H / 4G
– Battleship Cores: 2L+2G / 1H+4G / 1XL+1L / 1XL+2M / 1XL+2G
– Battleship Sterns: 1H / 2G
– Titan Bows: 2XL
– Titan Cores: 4H /8G / 2XL / 4XL
– Titan Sterns: 2H / 4G / 1XL / 2XL
– Ion Cannon: 2XL
– Colossus: 1W+1T+2PD+2H / 1T+4XL+2PD+2H
Combat Computers:
– Corvettes now receive the Line computer
– Destroyers get the Swarm and Torpedo computers
– Titans receive the Line computer
Weaponized Colossus:
– The Colossus now has two new ship sections; an armed colossi as well as a fully operational battle station!
– Colossi have the Line, Artillery, & Carrier computers as well as a new combat computer to take advantage of their Titan weapon
– They also get sensors since I guess they don’t have them in vanilla?
As the point values of the weapons stay the same, these should be somewhat balanced for vanilla. Ships sections that disregard this will generally have defence or auxiliary slots taken instead. Some ships sections may also have less defence or cost more alloys for balance reasons.
I also tried to make sure that all the weapons would fit with the existing ship models so even the turrets work! Unfortunately since torpedoes are medium weapons they sometimes get doubled up on large weapon slots, so you may see them pointing in multiple directions. However, all you nostalgic folks now have your Neutron Launcher battleships back!
