Description:

This mod is in the very early stages of development, so is most suited to more casual games where it is not a problem if you need to correct bugs which leave you at an unfair disadvantage: the origins added by this mod may not play nicely with all other civics!


New Origins and Solar Systems

All origins begin with cloaking materials and the Epstein drive (see below) researched.
United Nations
Start with your capital world on Earth but with a pre-existing colony on Mars. Mars will always start as a dry super-habitable planet, no matter which type of planet you choose Earth to be. Because of this, pops on Mars will suffer a habitability penalty, so the planet will need to be terraformed eventually. Start with neighbouring solar systems such as Laconia, Ilus and Bara Gaon.

Martian Congressional Republic
Start in the same Sol system as the UN origin, but with Mars as your capital and Earth as the colony. Using this origin, Mars will still be a dry super-habitable world and Earth will remain your chosen habitability type. The neighbouring solar systems are the same as the UN origin.

Laconian Empire
Start in the Laconia system, with a mysterious ruined megasturcture orbiting near your homeworld. This origin comes with an event chain story line related to unlocking the secrets of your precursor system and expanding your empire. Under development: unfinished. Encounter ruined Sol, Ilus and Bara Gaon systems nearby and begin to rebuild the navies of "The Romans".

Outer Planets Alliance
Begin on 3 habitats in the sol system with two colonies on Earth and Mars. Your pops on the habitats will be adjusted to the void of space, while your pops on Earth and Mars will not be. To use this, follow these steps:

  • Select the Void Dwellers origin
  • Take the Outer Planets Alliance civic
  • Change starting solar system to The Expanse – OPA Sol System

Gargantua-Pantagruel System from Interstellar – Origin Coming Soon
This starting solar system is modelled after the Gargantua system from Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Begin on Edmund’s Planet orbiting the star Pantagruel and re-explore Mann’s Planet and Miller’s Planet, each with their own planet-wide modifer. Origin for this solar system is coming soon.


New Ship Components

Dobridomov Drive
This FTL drive is based off the Alcubierre drive, named after Mexican theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre, a real-world concept for a faster than light drive. In this mod, it is imagined as an instantaneous jump drive, requiring only charge-up time and having infinite range. (Spoilers for Leviathan Falls) This is modelled after the drive the Linguist uses in the epilogue of Leviathan Falls, hence the name. This drive can only be researched once jump drives and gateway construction have both been researched.

USM (Ultra-Strong Magnetic) Field Projector
The USM Field Projector is an ungodly powerful weapon for Titan class ships. It comes in two sizes, one for the Titan special weapon slot and a smaller version which fits into large artillery slots for Titan ships. This weapon is based off of the magnetic weapons the Laconian Imperial Navy battlecruisers use. Researching this weapon requires having previously researched Titans, Gateway Construction and the Focused Arc Emitter.

Epstein Drive
Available at the start of the game to empires using any of the Expanse-themed origins included with this mod. Identical to the normal tier-3 plasma thrusters.

Advanced Epstein Drive
A much more efficient Epstein Drive allowing for greater speed and manoeuvrability. Available to research once Epstein Drives, Dark Matter Propulsion and Antimatter Power have been researched.

Inertial Deflectors
Advanced shields based on the concept of the protomolecule station’s inertial dampening. Can be researched once Dark Matter Deflectors and Dark Matter Power has been researched.


New Paragon

Requires Galactic Paragons DLC
Chrisjen Avasarala

  • Level 7, egalitarian governor
  • Special Council Trait: Queen of Earth
  • Must be spawned in with the console command: event teparagon.1

Why Does This Require Real Space and Planetary Diversity?

If you are only going to use the Expanse parts of this mod, Real Space is not required as it adds the black hole for the Interstellar system (Gargantua-Pantagruel). However, Planetary Diversity is required for the planets that make up the new solar systems for the Expanse origins. These origins will not function without it!
