Stuck on how to change the tertiary color of the flag? Or perhaps you don’t get how the new emblems work? Below are common issues and their solutions.
Tertiary Colors
– Stellaris flags typically only have a primary and secondary color. Because I don’t know how to mod in another button, you’ll have to change the third color manually.
– The USA empire that comes with the mod already has blue as its tertiary color.
Step-by-step guide to changing color begins below:
1. After you make a custom empire, close the game and navigate to your PC’s documents folder.
2. Click on "Paradox Interactive" and then "Stellaris".
3. Click on "user_empire_designs_v3.4" and scroll down until you find the desired custom empire (you can press ctrl-f to search for its name, too).
4. Below your empire’s name is a lot of info, but the line we need is the one that says "colors={". Below it are four lines. The first three are your primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. Not sure what the fourth one is for.
5. Fill out these fields inside the quotation marks with whichever color you want. The base game has such colors as "yellow" and "green". The mod adds "usa_blue" and "usa_red". Type these in if you want the American flag’s exact colors.
6. Don’t forget to press save and you’re done! Enjoy your tricolor!
Emblems
– Regular flags in Stellaris have an emblem on them. These are selected via the categories like "Human" and "Aquatic" on the flag design screen. I do not like these emblems on my American flags.
– The new emblem categories of "Stars and Stripes" and "Colonial USA" have a blank emblem in each, but they are not interchangeable.
– The emblem you select determines your empire’s symbol on the map.
– The "Stars and Stripes" blank emblem gives your empire the current USA flag on the map view.
– The "Colonial USA" blank emblem gives your empire the Betsy Ross flag on the map view.
