A Cradle at the End of Time – Total Overhaul and Origin
For Stellaris version 3.6.1.
Change log will always describe updates.
"For thousands of years we looked up to the stars, our eyes glimmering with hope. Who awaited us? Friends? Enemies? Yet we had little time to truly ponder what lie in wait for us above. Over the last few centuries, our astronomers brought news that dashed every hope we had with a terrifying observation.
A star mere lightyears away from us suddenly went out. A few years later, another neighboring star died out without warning. And so it continued, one star after another disappearing without any predictable pattern let alone a knowable cause.Having long ago determined the distance of these stars brought the realization that every one we have seen blink out, all vanished at the same moment.
We now rise to the stars in a galaxy seemingly at its end, solemnly hoping to find answers if not friends."
This origin takes place after a galactic crisis became unstoppable and fired the aetherophasic engine, obliterating the galaxy and taking all life with them…except for your species, as far as you can tell
For now, the mod only generates a galaxy entirely filled with black holes, shattered planets, and no sings of life other than yours. It is recommend to play with Gigastructural Engineering, Gigas Stellar Manipulation: Reborn, and Hypertraversal Manipulation 2 to be able to put the shattered galaxy back together, one planet at time.
You start on a size 30 gaia world filled with many deposits including 6 of each strategic resource. This will be the only habitable planet in the galaxy until you begin building artificial habitation.
A set of alternative galaxy sizes comes with the mod that are recommend to play with though not required. (So you can let other galaxy size mods overwrite if you prefer those)

As I spend time getting more acquainted with making mods for Stellaris, I intend for this mod a small story of its own through a series of dig sites to uncover why your species was spared.
Gigastructural Engineering and Gigas Stellar Manipulation are now required mods with a bit more intermingling between them and this mod. Ensure to load this mod after those two mods.
While using Gigastructural Engineering, it is recommend to turn off the various primitives that can spawn in the mod’s configuration menu. Though if you want them to spawn in they will not be subject to the galactic purge on game start. Further, late game crises such as the Aeternum and Blokkats should function as normal.
While using Gigas Stellar Manipulation: Reborn, the Stellar Manipulator can "harvest" black holes, turning them into Brown Dwarves that can then be manipulated with Gigastructures as normal. Let not even entropy stand in your way in rebuilding the galaxy.
A fair number of things are somewhat to completely incompatible as the galaxy is a bit destroyed, so many events may not ever appear. I can’t say for sure which mods will break just yet, so feel free to create a thread on any issues you come across.
For users of ACOT: Secrets Beyond the Gates those systems remain safe from the galactic purge.
In general, as the mod develops, I will do my best to ensure other mods function as best they can given the scenario this mod presents.
It is recommend to load this mod near the bottom of your load order / overwriting most other mods if one wants to ensure the intended function of the dead galaxy is attained.
Can do anything you want with the mod. Fork it, make tweaks and upload em, all good by me. No need to ask and I won’t give any one person exclusive updating/upload permissions to carry the mod forward if I like, die or something. (Hopefully not soon)
