Enhanced Automation
Are you tired of managing your newly conquered planets or freshly colonized planets in the mid to lategame?
This mod adds new automation rules so that you don’t have to do that anymore.
The current automation system is designed around setting a designation on the planet and then letting it build depending on that. The problem is that if you set a mining designation the automation will not try to fill all the building slots once it has used up all the mining districts, neither will it try to build other districts if you still have district slots remaining.
This mod aims to fix that by allowing you to decide what to build without setting a designation.
It also fixes 2 minor bugs with the current automation system.
I recommend learning about the regular automation system first before you start using this mod.
- Disable all new automation settings and set the default to disabled. (Shift click for default setting)
- Disable designation automation setting and set the default to disabled.
When you colonize or conquer a new planet:
- Free up at least 4 building slots so the automation can repair amenities or crime.
- Destroy all unwanted districts.
- Destroy all blockers.
- Enable the wanted automation.
- Mining: Builds mining districts and respective job output buildings.
- Farming: Builds farming districts and respective job output buildings.
- Energy: Builds generator districts and respective job output buildings.
- Factory: Builds industrial districts and respective job output buildings. (Recommended: Set designation to factory so that only consumer goods get produced)
- Foundry: Builds foundry districts and respective job output buildings. (Recommended: Set designation to industrial so that only consumer goods get produced)
- Trade: Builds trade districts and respective job output buildings.
- Unity: Builds unity districts and respective job output buildings.
- Research: Builds research districts and respective job output buildings.
- Naval Capacity: Builds naval capacity buildings.
- Refineries: Builds rare resource production buildings. Will try to fix deficits first.
- Hydroponics: If enabled the farming designation will build hydroponics once all district slots are used up.
The automation will always try to build districts first and only after all district slots except 4 are used up will it start filling up the building slots. Once the building slots are filled up it will then fill up the remaining district slots. This is done to avoid having not enough housing for all the jobs that the buildings create.
If you select multiple automations like mining and farming then it will simply try to build an equal amount of food and mining districts.
If you dont select an automation that can build districts on this type of planet (for example only research on a regular planet) then all the building slots will get used up but the districts will remain empty.
Example
Select factory and research automation:
- Build industrial districts until four district slots remain.
- Build research buildings until planet is full.
- Build industrial districts until no district slots remain.
Select mining, farming, energy and refineries automation:
- Build equal amounts of mining, farming and energy districts until four district slots remain.
- Build equal amounts of rare resource refineries prioritizing deficits first until planet is full.
- Build equal amounts of mining, farming and energy districts until no district slots remain.
- Hiveminds will now build housing and amenities on ringworlds if that automation is enabled.
- Capital buildings will auto upgrade if that automation setting is enabled.
