About This Mod

Current Version: 3.3

Prepare to encounter a new and terrifying menace, The Eye of Terror, a challenging and dynamic mid and end game Crisis. Interwoven with the Shroud and psionic features from the Utopia DLC, the mod aims to change the dynamic of your playthroughs with new stories, challenges and opportunities. This layered crisis will grow in difficulty and will shift depending on the luck or misfortune of your session. While there are encounters that may destroy you, unlike usual crises that spawn massive fleets, its goal is to be a constant menace to the galaxy and can not be ended. A slow and insidious killer.

Although influenced by HP Lovecraft and the Warhammer Universe event of the same name, the storytelling is built so it flows with the lore of Stellaris and aims to feel like an integrated expansion rather than a reskin.

TLDR: Visit the FAQ page for a direct explanation of features or to this page for detailed breakdown (spoilers).

New Stories and Events

Navigate your empire and species through 40+ events and multiple story chains leading up to and following the ominous Shroud tear within the realspace of your galaxy. Designed and written for immersion, every choice will have an impact on your ability to counter, anticipate or survive. Explore an ancient Precursor archaeological site to find new ways to combat this enigmatic threat or simply do your best to contain it. The events effect the AI as much as you, so be careful your ally doesn’t collapse into chaos due to their poor choices.

New Ways To Perish

Fight a variety of threats crawling out from the Shroud designed to corrupt and devour life in the Galaxy. Different adversaries and entities have unique goals and behavior that will erode your empire from without and within. Random events and an enemy spawn system built on randomized probability will ensure each playthrough unique and possibly more challenging, depending on how far you’re situated from this new Crisis. Every spawn is individual, meaning if entities or different cults run into each other, they will fight one another -leading to interesting stories or unexpected saviours.

Secure the Galaxy

Find new ways to work together with the Galactic Community with new resolutions, operations, technologies, hunt down ancient secrets and share them with your allies – or don’t, or use this new danger as a tool to destroy your enemies. But be careful it doesn’t consume you as well, the various entities will fight each other just as much as you, but will always seek to satiate their hunger with your planets.

Compatibility

The mod is completely independent and affects no vanilla files, it should be playable with all other mods. It has been tested with large mods (NSC, Giga, etc) and crisis manager mods with no issues (yet).

Saved Games

Can be added at any point in your saved game, a special popup will appear at the end of the month for spawn chance. No issues that I know of (as of yet).
