Infestation – A Hive Mind Origin
Sorry, I’d really like to give this mod the time it deserves, but there’s just no time between my day job, my family and my studies. This mod is now part of the public domain, so you can do whatever you want with it without the need to give any credit.
This Mod adds a new Origin for Hive Minds that lets you Play as a proper Infestation. You will start on an Infested World, which has special Districts to produce all the resources you will need to spread the infestation to the whole Galaxy.
Infested Worlds have three stages, all of which with a different look. Every Planet you colonize will start at stage one (only a small amount of infestation) and you will need to use special Decisions to spread the infestation. Every stage also has a corresponding Planet Modifier which gives penalties and/or bonusses depending on the amount on Infestation present.
Planets conquered form Enemies will have no infestation to begin with and have massive penalties, be sure to use your decisions infest those Worlds.
Infested Worlds can´t be invaded, they will turn into Tomb Worlds once the Devastation reaches 100%. The thing is, they are quite a lot sturdier than regular Planets.
The biggest change however is that all your Districts, Buildings and Ships now cost significantly less Alloys/ Minerals but have an added cost of organic materials (Food) an Exotic Gasses.
There also is an optional Total War Casus Belli added for non-Devouring Swarm Hive Minds. When you star a new game as an Infestation Hive there will be an Event Popup which will let you choose if you want to use it ore not. It permanently enables or disables the Casus Belli on your Safe file.
All of this is done with Modifiers and Events, to ensure maximum compatibility with other Mods. Please see the Compatibility Sections for further information.
- The AI can not use this Origin, because they can´t handle the modifies resource costs. So, you shouldn’t force spawn one of your Empires which has the Origin.
- Some Vanilla Events give you the option to terraform your planet (The Abandoned Terraforming equipment for example). I have not touched these events, so you could terraform a Planet that way and not have the penalties. I have provided a free Decision to turn the planet back into a stage one Infested World.
- The possibility that another Empire gets into possession of an Infested World is very very small, I have however included a Decision for Empires without the Infestation Hive Origin to remove the Infestation. The AI will always use this Decision.
- This Mod was partially inspired by Guilliman’s Bioform Hive Mind Civic 2.3 which sadly is no longer in development.
- The Cost and Upkeep values are probably not final, so please leave feedback.

Some entries had to be changed to ensure proper functionality of the Mod. The entries and the changes to them are listed below.
- ap_hive_worlds – Infestation Hives don’t have access to Hive Worlds, because they already have a special Planet Class.
- decision_baol_life_seed – The Decision does not show up on Infested Worlds, because they can´t be Terraformed.
The following technologies have been modified so that they don’t show for Infestation Hives, because they would do absolutely nothing. There are other Technologies added in their place, some even having the same Name and Icon, just a different effect.

Fresh Install:
- Unsubscribe from the Mod.
- Go to Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent281990 and delete the Folder named 2087384056.
- Go to DocumentsParadox InteractiveStellarismod and check if you have a File named ugc_2087384056.mod, if so, delete it.
- Resubscribe to the mod and get a fresh install of it.
