Re-Balanced Habitats
This mod aims to adjust habitat infrastructure in a balanced way while preserving vanilla gameplay. One of my biggest complaints with vanilla was the huge difference between Energy and Mineral production on habitats. This mod aims to greatly improve that and bring it roughly in line with Tier 4 production buildings (although more expensive since these are on a spacestation).
After 1.6 the devs made some much needed changes that largely addressed these issues. However, they still kept mining buildings with relatively low output; which puts it at the same production as a terrestrial lvl 3 mine. This didn’t seem right to me. Post-1.6 update, the differences between this mod and vanilla are a bit more subtle, but the biggest difference is bringing habitat mining more in balance with energy production (similar to Tier 4 planetary production).
The following habitat buildings have been changed:
- Increased Habitat Admin. (Energy) production from +5 to +7 (40% increase)
- Increased Astro-mining Bay (Minerals) production from +4 to +5 (25% increase)
Some things to note with this mod:
- Normal planetary colonization is still the FASTEST way to increase production, however…
- This makes "small & tall" Tech Empires that rely on habitats MORE competitive.
- This mod will NOT make habitats OP, but it will generally make them a better alternative to wide expansion.
- I may improve Energy production by 1 after more balance testing.
