Simply Synths
Alright, so, basically I hate that I can’t play a machine empire that has authorities (and thus ethics) other than that of the Machine Intelligence.
Why, I ask you, may I not have a society made up of self-aware autonomous synthetic individuals? I mean, isn’t that what the Synthetic Ascension basically allows? I mean, it’s cool and all, but I have to play a large portion of the game before I can ascend that way, and by that time I’ve built an entire civilization on NOT being machines, and it runs pretty darn well if I’ve got to the point where I can afford to mod all the biological squishiness out of my people, after that it’s more of a chore than a treat to have to robomod the entire population AGAIN just to get back all the tasty modifiers I lost when we ascended (if there are even equivalents available to machines). All in all, playing that way is a hassle and a half with the only benefit being a free trait that gives you a 20% boost to.. well I think most everything, nothing to scoff at, but not worth the extensive effort
So, to solve my dilemma, I give you: Simply Synths.
What does this mod do? It adds one new species, Synthetics, which can choose from any vanilla Stellaris portrait (and any DLC portrait assuming you have the correct pack installed). This allows you to play your robot species the way you want. Allowing you to make your robots look like either their biological or robotic creators (however they came about), and doesn’t enforce the Machine Intelligence authority (though you can still choose that).
Compatibility:
No Core Files were harmed in the making of this mod, thus it is fully compatible with all other mods out there.
I’m sure some of you are asking "what about my favorite portraits from x portrait pack", no, you can’t use those with the new synthetics race, I’d have to add each set individually to it. That said, if the authors of said pack would like to create their own "Synthetics" racial group, they are free to lift the relevant species file from this mod and modify it as necessary (which is to say just remove the existing portrait names and add theirs).
