1994’s Sierra Outpost: Female Assistant Voice-Over
This mod replaces the default VIR voice-over with a voice from another game, the voice-over from 1994’s PC game ‘Outpost’. The voice actress had a throaty, sultry voice, should be perfect for your space opera immersion. There is a video from the original game’s opening screen as an example.
As of right now, this mod does not affect other voice-over mods, but since there is a DLC dropping in two days with a ton of voice-over choices, that might change. This also should not change the special voice-overs given according to your empire’s ethics choices. This mod only changes the default. Because these are audio rips from the old game, the sound quality of the voice-over may not be the same quality of the current voice-overs. Something else of note is that this new VIR will not just read to you what is on the screen, because, again, I ripped these from a game from twenty years ago.
Twenty years ago… Hmm. Now that I’ve made myself feel old, please enjoy this mod! And for more on the interesting history of this game, Google it, because it was pretty groundbreaking in its day and could have been so much more, but was way ahead of its time.
