Description:

(2.2.7)Mod 1 Pirates

I was inspired and encouraged to build this ship type mod for personal use but I feel I should share it with everyone just in case someone else out there is looking for something like this.

Steps to use the mod,

1. Activate the mod in the main menu

2. select the pirate ship type

3. After starting a new game a event window will pop up in a second or two with two choices, if you want to play with the pirate ships hit the YES button. If you don’t want to play with the pirate ships hit the NO button.

Gameplay:

I did add abit of Pirate "Character" to the mod so it will play alittle differently.

– All ships minus the PDS ship are slightly more exspensive to build, by default pirate ships are more durable so I’d figure they should cost abit more.

– The PDS ships, Corvettes and Destroyers are faster and more agile then thier default counterparts, the Tanker, Cruiser and BattleShip are slower then thier default counterparts.

– Every Ship Class/Station minus the PDS and Tanker can access hanger sections.

– The Pirate Ships being… well pirates are more likely to disengage combat, larger ships are more likely to disengage first(pirates are selfish, not as well organised/disciplined and somewhat cowardly)

– The Tanker lost is border extruder but it does have some use, It can lend a hand in fire support and with its maintenance module it will repair your ships at a slow rate when the fleet is stationary.

– The Planetary Defense Ship(PDS) has no FTL Drives. It purpose is to defend your worlds and systems at a discount price by spam. They cost half as much, build in half the time and take no naval capacity.

– The Combat Computers for the ships are different, they cost the same as the default combat computers but thier perks are only half as effective.

– The Defense Platforms are much weaker then the default platforms but they are cheaper and require alot less upkeep to maintain.

– The Pirate ships are also cheaper in the upkeep department, I’d imagine pirates are not known for their tech savoy skills so anything they build is probably relatively simple and easy to upkeep.

Notes:

– Still have plans to improve/refine where ever possible. This is not the final version there is sitll work to be done.

– This mod does do an overwrite with the common ship size file and common country type file. It does not alter anything but add a custom technology to the default ships/stations. The reasoning was to build an on off switch to remove clutter from the ship designer and I had to add the custom tech to the country type file so the AI would do its thing and play.

Compatability:

– Version 2.0 and up is required, your likely to encounter problems if you haven’t updated to 2.0(cherryh).

– For safety purposes as I’m not too sure which file it uses this mod may or may not require Leviathans DLC.

Bugs:

– The three starting Corvette’s are using the back up graphical culture.

– May be some model clipping issues with starbase and defense platforms.

-Possibly more will be discovered while being used. I will also be using it in my game to look for bugs as I play.

– Currently It does not have support for multiplayer.

– Weapon turrets may be out of scale(paradox built new turrets for the pirates in update 2.2.5 not sure how to fix)
