Description:

The goal of this mod is to add new empires that seamlessly integrate with Stellaris’ premade choices. Unlike other mods, "Additional Empires" displays short descriptions of each empire on the New Game screen and, in several cases, provides a unique message upon game start.

As of right now, there are four empires included in this mod:

Kel-Azaan Interplanetary Alliance & Paridni Mercantile Republic
Both of these empires are included in the unmodified game files, but for unknown reasons they were cut before launch. It took minimal effort to reincorporate them. Along with trimming each empire’s traits (as-shipped, they have too many positive attributes), I created a new flag for each one; they defaulted to the same flag as the Scyldari Confederacy. These empires have a chance of spawning as AI empires in a new game.

Gliese Meritocracy
An empire of my own creation, the Gliese Meritocracy is a third human faction. Like the Commonwealth of Man, the Gliese Meritocracy is descended from a Ulysses Initiative ark ship. It emphasizes wise leadership and deliberate action at the expense of slower population growth. This empire will not spawn as an AI controlled empire.

Tau Empire
In what may be a controversial move, the final empire is explicitly based upon Warhammer 40K’s Tau Empire. However, I have deliberately written the New Game description and the starting message in very general terms, with no references to 40K’s wider setting. In essence, I have brought the Tau Empire to the Stellaris universe in a way that only minimally upsets the suspension of disbelief. Though it breaks the unity of the copper-themed flag emblems, I have included the Tau Empire’s iconic black-and-white insignia. This empire will not spawn as an AI controlled empire.

I am certain that, like me, some of you want custom empires that feel less "custom" and more "default." I enjoyed making this mod and would love to expand it — for instance, by incorporating Tau-specific planet names, or featuring a Blorg faction that had its own unique starting text, or including your canon-esque custom empires. If any of that sounds like something you all would like, let me know!
