Details

Given that this mod affects events, edicts and traits, it is not achievement friendly. It can be used in combination with any other mod, and will affect any species (other than machine/gestalt).

Have you ever got cloning technology and wondered why you could not clone your leader whom you customized to perfection? Me too…

This is the best that cloning can be represented at this point. Creating a new leader will result in a completely different appearance (hair, clothes, face, name, etc.) and currently there is no way to change a leader’s age or reduce skill level. So, cloning by adding traits allows for retaining that individual leader, but with a trade off…

How Cloning Works

First you need cloning technology. Once you get that technology an Edict appears, "Cloning Process: Ruler". Clicking this selects your current ruler and gives you an option to clone or not to clone. If you clone, you get your first cloning trait.

Clone I adds 70 years to the life of your ruler, plus increased upkeep.

Every 70 years you will be prompted to update your clone or not, replacing your clone trait with further ones if you choose. The traits increase the leader age by 70 years at a time (Cloning I +70 years, Cloning II +140 years, etc.) which represents a new clone taking over.

However, as you progress in cloning variations a degradation of your clone’s quality happens. Increased upkeep, lowered experience gain, lowered experience max, and a trait burden.

If your cloned ruler should die at any time and you get a new ruler, you can clone them as well (the edict will reappear should your ruler die and a new one take over).

If you choose to say no to cloning, you can always go back later and clone through the edict.

I have not done any governors, scientists, admirals, generals or envoys, just your ruler.
