Description:

The aim of this mod is to allow gestalt consciousnesses to have ethics, from both a mechanical and a flavor perspective. It is currently not showing obvious errors at start but given its complexity there are probably still errors my brother and I haven’t found.

Features include:

  • Countries must now have either the "Gestalt Consciounsess" or the "Distinct Individuals" ethic (the latter of which does nothing), and will then still have the equivalent of 3 points remaining.
  • Hive minds can have any ethics. Machine intelligences can have any ethics besides Spiritualist.
  • Hive minds can shift ethics via edict if their attraction to an ethic is high enough. Machine intelligences cannot- their programming is inflexible.
  • Gestalt consciousnesses can now use the Liberation Wars war philosophy and can outlaw
  • Rather than Liberation Wars allowing aggression against gestalt consciousnesses automatically, this is now determined by "Gestalt Hostility" policy
  • Empires which outlaw AI now have a total war CB against Machine Intelligences
  • Gestalt consciousnesses can now give aliens Residence citizenship and employ them in a very limited set of jobs.
  • Xenophile Machine Intelligences can build Organic Sanctuaries and grant aliens Bio-Trophy citizenship even if they do not have the Rogue Servitor civic
  • Spiritualist Hive Minds gain the "Prayer Trance" edict, increasing unity production but reducing all other resource production by Complex Drones
  • Adds the following civics:
    • Assimilator Contagion allows hive minds to assimilate xenos, and to infiltrate xeno colonies by establishing branch offices.
    • Cohabitor, only available to xenophile hive minds, allows a hive mind to sign migration treaties and establish branch offices when they have such treaties.
    • Unprincipled allows a hive mind to shift ethics much more easily.
    • Dynamic Morality allows a Machine Intelligence to shift ethics in the same manner as an Unprincipled hive mind.
  • Adds numerous new personalities and several new governments for Gestalt Consciousnesses.
  • Adds the "Identity Unification" ascension perk, which allows a country which has finished any of the three ascension paths to turn into a Gestalt Consciousness via special project (Machine Intelligence for synthetic empires, Hive Minds otherwise).
  • Several origins are now less restricted.
  • Gestalt consciousness opinion penalties are reduced although not removed.
  • Numerous other minor changes

Compatibility patches with Forgotten Queens are available here (for the base version) and here (for the Ethics and Civics Alternate version). Note that if there are any compatibility issues between ECA and FQ outside of objects also overwritten by this mod the above compatibility patch will not address them. I have not looked into whether there are any such issues.

Sanity patch with Governments Variety Pack available here and is compatible with both versions and all other patches.
