Description:

There are plenty of mods out there that increase ship movement speed but I couldn’t find one that decreases it, so I decided to make one myself. Changes the pace & feel of the game entirely and makes space seem a lot bigger.

– Slightly reduces ship movement speed within systems

– Greatly increases the time it takes to travel along hyperlanes

That’s it.

Works great when playing competitively against friends.
Probably best to use smaller maps when playing this though, otherwise you’re going to have some extremely lengthy games… But hey, if that sounds fun to you, then go right ahead.

I’ve found that it makes for more tactical gameplay as you’ll now have to consider that it actually takes time to move your fleets around. If you get invaded and your fleet is the other side of the galaxy, you’ll be in trouble, so you’ll want to keep at least some form of fleet nearby at all times. When on the offensive, you’d be wise to scout out the enemy fleets, note their positions and take advantage of that as best you can. As fleets take a long time to travel along hyperlanes, it also gives plenty of warning for the defender to prepare and pump out a few extra ships to aid in the defence of their system. If your fleet suffers heavy losses in enemy territory, reinforcements are a long way away, so be sure to order a tactical retreat when things are looking dire.
