Description:

Changes the traits obtained from the DISTAR_BRAINSLUG_CAT / Abandoned Settlements / Neural Symbiote / Brainslug event chain such that they can be genemodded onto other species in your empire. If you’re roleplaying that your symbiotes are actually the Yeerks, now you can have them take over your whole empire.

If you genemod a species to have brainslugs, your leaders will be updated so they also have brainslugs, and pool leaders of that species will also have brainslugs. This means you can guarantee brainslug leaders from a given species if all subspecies have brainslugs. If the pool generates a new leader from a species that doesn’t have brainslugs, the normal 20% chance for leader brainslugs applies. If another civilization gains brainslug species pops, they still can’t gain brainslug leaders, as is the case without this mod. Brainslug leaders are restricted to those civilizations who have the flags from completing the event chain.

As it stands the AI can remove (but not add) this trait if they get a hold of pops that have it, and I can’t guarantee that they won’t do so at the first opportunity as I don’t think it’s possible to mark cost 0 traits as beneficial. If you know how, let me know!

This mod is not achievement compatible as it changes the checksum. It’s also incompatible with any other mod that changes the 06_distant_stars_traits file or the distar.173 event.

Last updated for 2.6.1, though I do not anticipate this mod randomly breaking.
