Description:
Dyson Swarm – colonizing space

Have you ever felt like habitats are underwhelming and way to lategame to bother with? Yes? Then I have a mod for you: This mod allows you to construct a new type of habitat relativly earlygame: the dyson swarm. A dyson swarm is a collection of many small, mostly low G habitats and stations, feeding off the energy of a nearby a star.

Features:
– build solar stations, 0G labaratories, markets and mining stations, as well as many new buildings complete with new jobs
– Exploit the different resources within the starsystem: A dyson swarm in an asteroid rich system for example may become one of your most important mining colonies. Ice asteroids will provide a bonus to your local foodproduction, gas giants provide acess to exotic gases, another colony within the system will allow for trading,…
– Your dyson swarm starts of on size 4. As you research new techs and take ascension perks you unlock new upgrades that allow you to build more districts. Later on you can even mine out entire planets to turn them into new space stations for your dyson swarm, increasing its size even more.
– As you build more districts and buildings, more stations will appear and your dyson swarm will visibly get bigger
– The most precios thing on a dyson swarm is living space: Instead of having to build housing districts, you will have to build and upgrade housing stations (new building). Normal districts dont provide enough housing to cover all the potential jobs they create
– Battle muscle atrophy, as the nature of the zero G enviroment slowly weakens the bodies of your people to a point where they are bound to space and cant visit planets anymore. (note: you can turn this feature off in the edicts menu )
-Or simply embrace this new enviroment by taking an ascension perk. Living on planets is a waste of materials anyway. Our new home is in the sky.
– The Ai will also build dyson swarms (to prevent them from spamming them like idiots, they are coded to never build more than three)
-modular districts! Taking the "Home in the sky" ascension perk (or some of the origins) will allow you to swap your dyson swarms districts with other, new ones. Such as: low-g smelters, leisure stations, civilian industry, server farms (ME only), void sanctuaries (rogue S. only) and spawning chambers (hiveminds only).

New Origins!

– "Lost Home" (any non gestalt): Start on a dyson swarm and evacuate your homeworld before its atmosphere collapses.
– "Rogue Colonizing Unit" (ME only): Start as a machine empire, created to build a new home for your creators: a dyson swarm. Prior to its completion you lost contact. What will you decide to do: Try to find your creators and take care of them will you abandon your organic roots?
– "Hostage Planet" (Megacorps): Your companies recless policies have destroyed your homeplanet. Without FTL technologies, the only escape were slower than light colonyships with life suspension pods. After a millenia long voyage in suspension, you were suprised to find that the planet you had set course to has developed a thriving, machine age civilization. With resources streched thin, you had no choice but to set up a dyson swarm around the natives sun. What will you do about the natives? Integrate them? Or perhaps turn them into the "perfect customers"? Or just bite the bullet and let the primitives take over this failing corperation…

If you wish to use these origins in form of civics (to combine them with other origins for example), you will have to download this mod, as they have been moved out of the main mod.

Dyson swarms are unlocked by researching its technology, which has no prerequisites. If you don’t like that, or are sick of the AI using them to much, then you can also install !Less Accessable Dyson swarm. It changes dyson swarms to be unlocked through the "Voidborn" ascensionperk instead of its tech.

Compatability:

This mod also edits the "is_habitable_structure" scripted trigger. I recommend you install THIS quick fix I made, no matter what other mods you are running: !habitable structures Fix . With district compatability becoming much easier as of 2.7.0, this patch is not as important as it once was, but I still recomend it to ensure maximum compatability with events and other scripts that rely on this scripted trigger.

This mod also changes a couple horizon signal events (akx.9499 and akx.10020), if this gets overwritten by another mod it will break compatability between Dyson swarm and horizon signals events.

Also overrides the entire origin_1.txt file, since I overriding a single event in that file (origin.1) does not work for some reason. The clausewitz engine works in mysterous ways (or I am just missing something obvious).

On another note: Megacorp is NOT a hard requirement, I only use a few models from it and those will simply not spawn if megacorp is not active.

Other patches you might need:
Realspace-Systemscale
Playable galactic horde:
built in compatability in form of a new building that is only availabe to nomads.

Special thanks to rainy67 for helping me with localisation!

Planned features:
– allow the AI to make use of modular districts
– german localisation

known bugs:
-The muscle detriation event sometimes spawns duplicate subspecies. Its a very inconsistent bug and I have no idea what is causing this, so I included an option to turn the event off and on in the edict menu (you can savely do this at any point in the game, this will however NOT get rid of the actual trait).
-you can still build normal planetary buildings on dyson swarms. This is not a bug, I left this in intentionally to ensure maximum compatability with other mods. (and making updating less work for me:))
-the AI is dumb and will somtimes spam dyson swarms since they are the only megastructure available early game. for this reason, I have created this submod.

If you find any bugs, problems or have suggestions, then post them here. Suggestions are always welcome. Have fun!
