Description:

Stellaris Version: 2.2.2
Mod Version: 0.05
Achievement Compatible: No
Requires DLC: Possibly

This is a species pack that implements various races and societies from ArenaNets fantasy games "Guild Wars" and "Guild Wars 2" as space-faring civilizations in Stellaris. When complete, the mod aims to contain roughly 40 new species and roughly 50 preset empires you can play as or against.

Each addition is carefully balanced to be both believable in the context of Guild Wars lore and also Stellaris, while still covering the full range of possible authorities, civics and traits offered by vanilla. It shouldn’t matter whether you know a lot about Guild Wars or nothing, the aim is to make the objectives and histories of all new empires understandable. Though, obviously, you’ll get a lot more satisfaction if you’ve played both games.

Empires included in this species pack will have these features customised:
~ The aformentioned and carefully considered authorities, lore descriptions, civics, traits, etc.

~ Static portraits
– – – – – Not animated, but with multiple phenotypes per portrait.

~ Rooms
– – – – – Using recognisable and memorable Guild Wars locations and concepts.

~ Personalities
– – – – – With hopefully appropriate AI behaviour according to empire build.

~ Namelists
– – – – – This includes ship names, planets, leaders and armies.

~ Diplomacy [In progress]
– – – – – With special interactions between relevant empires. (e.g Black Lion Trading Company & Consortium, Tengu & Yeti, Charr & Ghosts of Ascalon, Krait & Naga)

~ Sound effects [Not done]
– – – – – Each race plays audio queues during communications expected of them.

~ First Contact Events [Not done]
– – – – – Give the empires a chance to speak about themselves, to pad out Stellaris horrific dialogue systems.

This mod does NOT seek to:

1. Alter game of empire balance in any way.
2. Add new events.
3. Add new traits, civics, authorities, homeworlds or modifiers. (see point 1)
4. Be achievement compatible..

Roadmap for the future:
This is currently Alpha with just 10 out of roughly 50 planned empires implemented. These 10 are fully playable and work as AI, but are missing some important side features I want them to have. My entire focus right now is getting them fully functioning, then I will focus on expanding the roster again.

It is likely the iconic 5 playable Guild Wars races – Human, Norn, Sylvari, Charr, Asura – will come late in the pack. I want them to be excellent and consider the other races as good places to practice and see what’s possible.

I’l consider the mod in beta once all 50 empires are playable at a barebones level.

Then I’ll consider it an actual release when all 50 have this initial feature set complete.

After that I may look into custom governments, flags, animated portraits and whatever else – but as long as this is a one-man show I wouldn’t expect us to realistically get there.

Thanks for looking! I would LOVE any collaborators, offers of help, and plain feedback. For feedback I’d love be shown in particular:
1. All the typos and grammatical mistakes you come across as I absolutely cannot stand mods I play that contain them, and I don’t want to be responsible for another in the world.
2. If you have very cool inspiration for the lore behind existing or upcoming empires, I’d love to hear those too.
3. Personality and AI improvements, general gameplay suggestions.
