Features
========================================

Removes all vanilla traits. I recently made a change that does this cleanly, so there should no longer be any issues.

Expanded trait selection screen.

Trait Points: 24
Trait Picks: 12

Standard traits

These come in multiple tiers, and are mutually exclusive with other standard traits of the same category / theme. The multiple tiers allow you to fine-tune your species to your desire.

Minor traits

These grant small bonuses, and have only one point cost. They exist solely to use up remaining picks and points.

Boons and Banes

These traits give moderate bonuses, and each boon/bane has a counterpart that it is mutually exclusive with. These tend to affect the species, rather than the empire itself.

Specialty traits

These traits give moderate bonuses and tend to affect your empire as a whole, rather than the species itself. You can pick as many as you want, but they are mutually exclusive with other traits in the same category (i.e. you cannot pick two Ship: Offense traits).

Ultimate traits

The namesake of the mod, these traits give massive, game-changing bonuses that will define your empire, but use a large amount of points. Some of the more powerful ones may even require you to pick detrimental traits in order to afford it. Only one may be chosen.

Current progress and to-do list

  • Empire modifying traits do not currently display their modifiers in the selection screen. A full (mostly accurate) list can be found in the image on the mod home page. This will be fixed once I fill out the localization file.
    Done!

  • Add unique icons for reach trait. I’m changing the background style from the circles to a new square design that I think looks much better. Here’s a preview!

  • Trait costs and modifier bonuses still need adjusting to improve consistency and balance.
  • Change the names for most of the Focus traits to give them more flavor, i.e. "Focus: Health and Morale" to "Focus: Military Fitness"
  • Only biological species are currently affected. Will likely add machine traits, etc. later on, probably after the official release. The vanilla ones should work fine.
  • Add flavor text to each trait
  • Make the gene modding window larger. There is currently not enough room for all of the traits.
  • Add traits from this mod to the pre-made empires.
  • Add more traits!
