Description:

This mod (2.1, though it should work fine in previous versions) makes some adjustments to the Syncretic Evolution civic and trait.

I am planning on making a breaking change when 2.2 is released – This will make saves incompatible without some editing.

I play roughly a third of my games with Syncretic Evolution, and each time, they struggle compared to my non-Syncretic empires. The fact that they split growth with your other organic pops makes this civic extremely painful to take.

That itself is hard to properly account for, but we can address a few other weaknesses the civic has:

1) The Civic no longer forces the syncretic species to be strong, so you can choose Very Strong or even Weak instead.

2) The Civic is no longer incompatible with Agrarian Idyll, Post-Apocalyptic, or Life-Seeded. For post-apocalyptic I added a game start event to add the survivor trait to the serviles. Life-seeded converts all player species so that works fine without further edits.

3) The Syncretic trait is now a zero-point trait, meaning it doesn’t count against your picks.

4) The Syncretic trait now has bonus army damage like the Prole trait does, and bonus happiness is the same as uplifted Proles. This might be a bit much since the Prole trait still counts for a point, so making it roughly equal isn’t the same as balance. Though you are spending a permanent civic on it.

Comments are welcome.

Compatibility: This mod patches the civics and trait in question – it doesn’t directly edit any core files. Thus it will be compatible with anything that doesn’t specifically modify the same trait or civics. I had to edit Agrarian Idyll, Life-Seeded and Post-Apocalyptic because it now updates its checks immediately.
