Description:

With the release of Cherryh/Apocalypse, this mod’s purpose is deprecated for those moving forward. I am keeping the file up, but there will not be any update and you probably shouldn’t still be using this in 2.0.

A quick and dirty little mod that adjusts technology and tradition costs downward in anticipation of changes coming in Cherryh/Apocalypse 2.0.

Tradition Changes:
– Unity cost addition per planet is +5% (down from +25% in live)
– Unity cost per base population is +3 (up from +2 in live)

Technology Changes:
– Research Point cost additions are +5% per planet (down from +10% in live)
– Research Point cost additions for population are gone (is currently +1% per population past the first 10 "free" pops in live)

These adjustments are something of a "best guess" based on the data we have, with a little tweaking because we cannot emulate how Cherryh will levy costs per system in general since individual per system claiming isn’t a live feature. The removal of population-based malus for research is covered in Dev Diary #97 ( https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/stellaris-dev-diary-97-tech-progression-in-cherryh.1059317/ ).

These changes will seriously tip the scales away from Single Planet being an overriding strategy (as is the meta intention of the 2.0 changes themselves) for those who want to tech/tradition up. Because the base game is also adding technologies and unity sinks that currently don’t exist, it really makes sense to pair this mod with your preferred extended traditions and extended technologies mods.

I’ve made this mod for myself and some friends to mess with. It works for me and for my modlist. I am not good enough to really force it to work with anything else if there is a conflict; it messes with stuff found in 00_defines.txt but doesn’t replace the file or anything. Rely on this at your own discretion, have fun with it, and make sure to definitely turn it off come 2.0.
